Halo: Reach coming to The Master Chief Collection

343 Industries is bringing Halo: Reach, Bungie’s 2010 prequel to the original Halo: Combat Evolved, to Halo: The Master Chief Collection later this year.

Microsoft and 343 announced the add-on to The Master Chief Collection during an episode of Inside Xbox on Tuesday. The Xbox One game already packs in Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo 2: Anniversary, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, and Halo 4 as part of 343’s ambitious compilation. Halo: Reach has been a long-standing request from Halo fans.

343 Industries’ Brian Jarrard indicated that Reach will get the same treatment as other Master Chief Collection games, including 4K resolution, HDR graphics, and a 60 fps frame rate.

How you’ll get Halo: Reach depends on where and how you purchased The Master Chief Collection. Here’s the official breakdown from Microsoft:

On Xbox One specifically, Halo: Reach’s multiplayer content (which includes Forge and the Theater) will be automatically included for everyone who owns Halo: The Master Chief Collection while Halo: Reach’s Campaign and Firefight experiences will be offered together as a premium digital add-on. Xbox Game Pass subscribers will have access to the entirety of Halo: Reach within MCC as part of their subscription. Halo: Reach will look and play just as great when it lands on the Microsoft Store and Steam with Campaign, Multiplayer, and Firefight available for purchase as the first step in this PC journey.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection is also coming to Windows PC, 343 announced today. The PC version will come to Steam and the Microsoft Store later this year, and it will start with Halo: Reach. The rest of the the Halo games will be released on PC in chronological order.

The Master Chief Collection came to Xbox One in 2014, but with a rocky launch. 343 Industries has since updated and overhauled the collection to improve matchmaking and add other features, such as Xbox One X support.
